Giving Birth
Dolphins give birth under water without drowning their offspring. It takes between nine to eighteen months before a dolphin is born.
First, the female dolphin gives birth to live young. They give birth to one dolphin at a time. The baby is born tail first.
Second, the dolphin is rushed up to the surface to breathe. The female tries to give birth as close to the surface as possible. Two dolphins help it up to the surface to breathe.
Lastly, the young dolphin stays with its mom for about a year. It will nurse on its mothers milk for about 18 months.
